Last Friday, some of our best writers from Stage 3 were given the opportunity to visit the Sydney Writers Festival at Sydney Town Hall. At the festival, we were lucky enough to hear from 4 amazing, entertaining authors and 1 incredibly talented illustrator. Ursula Dubosarsky and Andrew Joyner, author and illustrator of 'Too Many Elephants in this House', introduced us to their book and showed us how he created the illustrations in the book. Felice Arena then danced out on stage to 'Happy' and told us how he created some of his book series, like Andy Roid and Specky Magee, and made us laugh lots talking about his Farticus Maximus books and other fart jokes. After lunch, Stephen Herrick shared some of his hilarious and unique poems with us. He writes about real life things in a really humorous way. The last author, Cornelia Funke, read the first 1 1/2 chapters of her famous book, Inkheart, from the Ink Trilogy. We thought it sounded amazing and are looking forward to reading the book before we watch the movie. Some students were lucky enough to have their books signed by the author. |
