There are many benefits to be gained by establishing and participating in a Class Blog.
In a traditional classroom, students are generally writing for their teacher only. Blogs allow students to share their work and achievements with a wide and authentic audience. Through our class blog, students can share their work with other teachers, students, families and the wider community. This encourages the students to take more pride in their work. It also allows parents and caregivers to become more involved in and informed about their child's education. Blogging increases the strong sense of community we already enjoy here at Warwick Farm Public School.
Teachers who have used classroom blogging as a regular part of their Literacy programs have documented clear improvements in student's literacy, typing, ICT, social interactions and geography through blogging.
Clear instruction in Blogging etiquette provides opportunities for students to learn about appropriate online behaviours and the use of 21st century technologies in a safe and closely monitored environment. Please see the tab above titled Blogging Guidelines to see how we approach internet safety.
Possibly the most exciting aspect of blogging is that it allows us as a class to make connections with other classes throughout Australia and across the world.
