We are 5/6 Cortes, a Stage 3 class in the South-West of Sydney. This year, all of the classes at our school are named after famous explorers. We are named after Hernan Cortes, a Spanish explorer who explored what is now called Mexico. He is infamous for causing the fall of the Aztec Empire.
Our school is very Multicultural and our class has students from Serbia, the Phillipines, New Zealand, Iraq, Palestine, Vietnam, Iran, India, Samoa, Bangladesh, China, Sierra Leone, Russia, Indonesia and Lebanon. Some of our families are from Australia and we have some students with Aboriginal Heritage. We have 2 awesome teachers this year, named Mrs Chegwidden and Mrs Haeren. We have 26 magnificent students in our class. 14 are in year 5 and 12 are in year 6. |
Our favourite things about school are Maths rotations, where we get to do different activities, Sport, School Excursions, Library, Scripture, Computers, Public Speaking, Art, Peer Support, Assemblies and learning new things.
This year we are doing BYOD in our class and we like having our own devices to help with our learning. We use them in Genius Hour, which helps us lots.
This year we are looking forward to making new friends around the world through Blogging and Skyping and we can't wait to read your comments and learn about other kids around the world.
